NO LONGER CARNIVORE

By Mikhaila

Hey guys! HUGE NEWS. I am currently not a carnivore.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am eating 95% meat and right now my diet mainly consists of pan fried arugula and tallow, and mainly beef (with some ginger). So I’m probably what people call animal based now? I’m not sure what the current name is for whatever I’m doing but I’m back to what I was doing in 2017 which was beef and greens basically. Plus the ginger… Although only cooked greens, no raw yet.

I am currently able to eat this, and some other plant foods, without having an arthritic flare up and with no mood impact. This is the first time in 8 years I’ve been able to eat anything other than ruminant meat without getting arthritis or mood issues. (Well, technically more than 8 years. I suppose really it’s been since I was 2 given that’s when the arthritis started.)

I did put myself in remission originally on the paleo diet that you can find linked here, but after pregnancy and moving to a leaky house (I figured out that it was moldy much later) I stopped being able to eat anything other than ruminant meat without getting arthritis. Plus severe depression. I didn’t think it would take 8 years to figure out but what was wrong with me wasn’t that obvious. And testing for it definitely didn’t really exist 8 years ago.

I put a video up on YouTube that goes through a thorough overview of the last 10 years of dietary and health interventions.

So why have my sensitivities reduced?

I obviously credit the diet massively, who knows how much that alone had to do with my immune system calming down. So avoiding plant foods and only eating ruminant meat played a huge role, and that’s what put me into remission in the first place. But what got me back to eating a few other foods?

  1. CIRS treatment
  2. Parasite/dysbiosis treatment

What didn’t work

Probiotics – I am still sensitive to probiotics. I tried them before the meat diet, on the paleo diet, i tried them before dieting at all, I’ve tried them recently, they do not make me feel good. It doesn’t matter if they’re low histamine, or sporebiotics, it doesn’t matter.

Hyperbaric oxygen – no noticeable difference although it’s definitely relaxing, I’m sure it’s helpful but it didn’t make a noticeable difference to me to reduce sensitivities. It certainly doesn’t hurt.

IV NAD – felt like being hooked to a battery, I’ve done over 18 large treatments, no noticeable difference and it felt awful.

Glutathione – I couldn’t tolerate this until recently when I got less reactive but now I can tolerate it better.

What did move the needle

Sauna – has always been beneficial for mood in a noticeable way, especially while going through antidepressant withdrawal or living in mold. It’s not something that i think long term reduced sensitivities but to mitigate symptoms at the time i found it actually noticeable. Not a massive game changer but definitely helpful

KPV peptide – definitely calming. It’s supposed to reduce inflammation and i can feel it helping calm me down in almost a psychological way. I don’t think it’s going to be life changing but it was a nice add.

Folinic acid – i do this by injection now and started a few years ago during pregnancy and after living in mold decimated my vitamins. This also makes me feel physiologically calmer. This is something i actually would recommend to people doing the carnivore diet now, especially women who are having babies.

DAO enzymes –  useful for histamine intolerance, i don’t use them anymore but they got me through severe histamine intolerance due to mold exposure.

Mainly: Parasite treatment – this was a game changer. Treating H pylori was huge. Now don’t get me wrong, I had gone to doctors and done parasite testing before, multiple times. I have so much testing on my body it’s ridiculous. And nobody ever found anything. So here’s what I recommend – do a GIMAP test and if h pylori shows up, treat it with quad therapy antibiotic treatment if it’s positive. The breath test in office is notoriously useless for testing, and h pylori is more common than people think. Symptoms can be a gnawing feeling in your solar plexus, bad breath, or in more severe cases, acid reflux and even vomiting. For me when it got bad I definitely had the gnawing burning feeling in my stomach, but before that when I know I had it but in lower levels it wasn’t really noticeable. And I know treating even the moderate levels would have helped me a lot. I also treated a protozoa parasite which may have helped but I think it was the h pylori treatment that really did it. But after thinking parasite treatment was kind of woo woo for years, and avoiding antibiotics like the plague, it’s not woo woo, and the antibiotics are worth it. I cannot recommend really looking into this seriously for anyone with food sensitivities and gut issues or even fatigue and skin issues. The problem is the regular testing misses them. It’s actually nuts. In North America they mainly do PCR testing and I had to send a stool sample to Africa to get looked at under a microscope in the old fashioned way to pick anything up. So we’ve gotten so advanced we think we don’t have parasites in America when in reality we just can’t test for them anymore. Brilliant. So parasite testing – huge, treatment honestly if you suspect it – huge. Rule out h pylori using the GIMAP test. Treat it if it’s there.

Mainly: CIRS and Mold exposure treatment – I grew up in a basement in downtown Toronto in a 100 year old house. There was black mold behind the dry wall from a plumber who left a cap off. It honestly smelled like a sewer down there. It’s no wonder I was so mentally ill as a kid. The tricky thing with CIRS and mold illness is it doesn’t hit everyone in the house necessarily so people don’t attribute illnesses to the environment. Read this article to fix the air in your house and read this website for CIRS treatment – although the air in your house is the most important part of that.

So to summarize if you have an autoimmune disorder you should try this diet as an elimination diet. If you have a psych disorder you should get on this diet. It helps so much it’s hard to believe, which is why people don’t believe it.Try the diet, and then when you have the energy, install an ERV in your hvac to get fresh air in your house – they’re a couple of thousand dollars but this needs to happen if possible. It’s the easiest way to get fresh air and it’s a lot easier than fixing every single thing that could be moldy in your house.

And get tested for parasites or just do parasite treatment.

Then you’re doing an elimination ketogenic diet, giving your body an alternative source of fuel, plus eliminating variables your immune system might be reacting to due to a damaged gut, tackling the gut treatment on top of that, and improving your air. I also gave myself time. A big factor here in my lessened reactions to foods could just be avoiding foods that caused inflammatory reactions for so long my body forgot to keep responding to them.

So. That’s after 10 years of dietary intervention and 8 years of achieving remission by only eating ruminant meat, and 4 ish months of expanding my diet without arthritis or depression. Here we are.

Take that medical system. Autoimmunity and “genetic psychiatric issues” are completely curable.

I have a ways to go to be “optimal” like biohackers (who didn’t have multiple joints replaced) are. I’m unbelievably burnt out after this year of health issues with my family, and work over the last 8 years, and medical trauma. I’m not at the point where I’m comfortable eating out. I’m still very sensitive to mold in air in environments that wouldn’t impact a normal person.I need to get stronger physically. But this recent development is life changing.

Contrary to popular belief, eating only meat isn’t fun and requires discipline. It’s just the best alternative to chronic disease. However, I have believed that in order to be healthier, which is important long term, it’s not just important to put yourself into remission, you also have to reduce sensitivities. Eating a carrot shouldn’t make you ill. That’s not a good sign. So hopefully this video helps people stay hopeful that there are more solutions out there and true healing is possible.

TL;DR

  • Diet achieves remission but more is needed to reintroduce foods than just time.
  • Look into: Dr. Gabrielle Lyon – parasite testing (or at least do a GIMAP to look for H. Pylori and treat it, and potentially just do a parasite cleanse if you can’t test).

Getting good air in the house – Michael Rubino with HomeCleanse (or at least install an ERV or if you absolutely can’t do that at minimum get IQAir purifiers or a Super V for the HVAC in your home. https://liondiet.com/cirs-update-2025/
