This post is from Kendall Foster. Good for you.
“I am a 29-year-old male. Growing up, my family was extremely poor. I had a steady diet of boxed/frozen dinners, sodas, and sugary snacks. I have suffered from anxiety since I was very young. Depression has also been a huge problem for me for the last decade. Just a year and a half ago, I was overweight, overworked, and overstressed. I was on a path back to the mental hospital for the second time. (First time was a self-check-in for wanting to hurt myself.) After that,t I was put on a daily dose of Prozac for my anxiety. I got fired from my job and developed a strong dependency on marijuana to numb the pain of my problems.
Today after hundreds of hours of researching and listening to people about diet, I realized it was part of my problem all along. My gut was a disaster. The first thing I cut out was soda. I was only drinking water, black coffee, and black tea. I lost a little weight from that, but I noticed my biggest loss when I cut out refined carbohydrates and sugars. The weight seemed like it just fell off. At the beginning of 2017, I weighed 200 lbs. I currently weigh 132 lbs.
After losing some of the weight, I got my sleep schedule back in a circadian rhythm. I slowly stopped taking my daily 40mg Prozac Rx. I started working part-time again, so I could keep myself somewhat active.
I’m not in the state where I want to be yet, but it has been a hell of a ride and I’m still working on it. My health has dramatically changed, and I honestly attribute it all to Joe Rogan. His podcast is an amazing platform for information. It seriously saved my life. Dr. Rhonda Patrick, Kelly Brogan, Chris Kresser, Nina Teicholz, and Joe Rogan himself have really been a huge influence on what I put in my body. I am currently eating a high fat low carb diet. I really just stick to meat, dairy, nuts, and oils. I feel better and look better than I ever have in my 29 years of life. I still struggle with my pot addiction, and I still have some inflammation in my joints. I’m still have work to do, but after losing 67 lbs, and getting off my anxiety meds, I’d say I’m now on the right path.”
Well done Kendall, keep going.
I am wondering if there is anybody out there that has experimented with undecenoic acid?? This is a castor oil derivative that is very good at killing off candida albicans, fungus, and getting balance back into the gut. I took this product several years ago and is the only supplement that ever worked for me in helping with my digestion substantially. Google “undecenoic acid” there are a few good articles on the 1st page of the search on this product. Thorne Research SF722 makes this product $35USD. It is an oil which is the rave of ketosis and what the body likes. If you try this product and are pretty sick, start out very slowly, because “die-off” and fatigue will definitely follow at 1st. This product took about a month for me to work but helped substantially.
Mikhaila, you need to get a inquiring questions section so more eyes can see these kind of posts.
Cannabis is MEDICINE to many. Take a look at yourself, if it isn’t stopping you from something you want and the life you want…then don’t feel bad about it. Don’t let the 1980’s propaganda invade your mind. Move to a legal state if at possible. Certainly try CBD too. I wish you continued sucess and true health!
So proud of you, Kendall!
And you look great. And sound more productive..pot and all. Miss seeing ya.
I’m so frustrated because I went on low carb for about 2 weeks and got bloated and GAINED 4 pounds! Drank lots of water and drastically cut back on alcohol too. I got soooo discouraged and said..f this.
ANYONE have any suggestions? Help!
What were you eating exactly?
Hi Caroline,
Don’t be too hard on yourself, this is a very difficult process. Most people with this disorder have taken steps backward it is quite natural. Two weeks on LC diet is a great start!! Look at the cup as half full. The beginning is probably the hardest part because your breaking your patterns and your body is probably going through withdrawal (die-off). Just keep with your intention when you fall off the wagon, your body will get stronger and that will feed your intention also get stronger. When your body keeps moving towards ketosis you will start to feel better. I urge you to read every shred of Mikhaila’s posts along with many of the others. It will help you from making the common mistakes and also help you get a better understanding of what works best for your individual body!!
I have a hard time drinking just water on this diet so I squeeze a lemon or lime into a pitcher of water and keep it in the refrigerator for a nice change of pace. I don’t react to lemons or limes and haven’t read of anyone that has on this website yet.
YOU CAN DO THIS!! FLIP IT AROUND!! SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE!! PULLING FOR YOU!! GOOD LUCK!!
PS. Curious on what you are trying to eat on your LC diet? Maybe that will give others a better understanding of why you are gaining weight.
Thanks all! I understand marijuana is medicinal, and I appreciate the support, however, there is a difference when you abuse it. I’m doing better on my usage anyway. I’m an however finding myself needing and using it less. I feel the diet change has helped a lot, because I feel like it’s motivating me to make more positive changes in my life. A good therapist would probably help too. I appreciate the feedback. The support really does help!
P.s Thank you for reading my post, Caroline. I know you have been looking for answers for awhile, and I hope something like this can really help you. You know how to get ahold of me if you have any questions! So funny how you text me out of the blue to tell me you read my post. I didn’t tell anybody I wrote it. Small world! I’m glad you found it 🙂
Congratulations, Kendall!
