Guest Post: I had been getting worse for the past 6 years

By Mikhaila

This is a testimony written by Jeffrey Beyerl. Thanks for writing, thank goodness you’re feeling better.

“Age 24, Male, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis)

My condition meant that I was slowly losing my strength both physically and mentally every day. If I tried to push myself it would lead to a spike in my symptoms and I would then be even weaker going forward. I was fairly bed bound, I took a LOT of long baths, and I couldn’t be around people for very long before my limbs stopped working right and I couldn’t think straight. Before I start I need to say that the diet isn’t everything as I still need supplements to support me, I stopped taking one (methylpro) and my symptoms did begin to return but not as severely. That said the results of the diet were immediate. Within a day I was already feeling better, less muscle pain, less brain fog, and I was able to be around people for longer periods of time. It has been 2 months and I am now able to walk without my cane for 2 blocks every day, cook 3 meals a day, and have enough energy to watch some TV shows and even play some video games again. I always thought being full meant your stomach had to hurt but this diet has shown me that is not the case, I eat more chicken than I thought possible and I am loving it. I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to share this diet as it has helped to improve my quality of life more than I had ever thought possible. I had previously talked with my family about ending my own life because I couldn’t stand to be such a burden on them, not because of depression but simply because the reality was I was useless and there was no hope for treatment. Now I’m able to help out around the house and finally have some hope that I might work again someday. It wasn’t easy to transition, the sugar cravings were very painful for the first month but now I’m still astonished as just how good I feel. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

  1. Jeffrey:

    1. What was your diet before?
    2. What is you diet now? (do you keep a food journal?)
    3. When did you start this diet (2 months ago?) Are you still transitioning into it?
    4. What supplements do you take?

Congratulations!!! I hope you post regular updates.

  2. My heart goes out to you Jeffrey. If you feel strong enough you may want to check online course out like http://www.open.edu/openlearn/
they are free. I do them and some other online universities offer courses on FutureLearn, edx. They offer certificates but I do not buy them. I just like learning. It helps to keep your mind focused on good things. All the best to you.

  3. That´s great Jeffrey, life is still great. I hope you get a job in the future. I am a video gamer too!
